This Google Chrome Extension has Greatly Decreased my Anxiety

My to-do list is never-ending. I mean it, I keep adding things before I get anything else completed, and that includes simple items like “text mom back” and “refill coffee” just to keep it all straight.

One look at these tasks is enough to send my mind into a frenzy. Last week, I posted a picture on Instagram from one of my favorite online stores. It’s an art print that states, “My brain has too many tabs open.” Believe me when I say, I have never seen anything more relevant.

Also on Instagram is a Google Chrome extension that I’ve been seeing everywhere. As both a past and future graduate student, I follow a lot of “study” accounts, and this extension seems to be a popular one. I downloaded it because I liked that it greeted me with my name (I’m a narcissist that way) but it’s ‘daily focus’ feature has really streamlined my day.

The extension is called “Momentum,” you can download it here.

Here’s what it looks like:

Pretty, right?

I love that it asks about my “main focus” for the day. Every 24 hours, I get to envision my day and choose one thing that will guide how I exist in my world and what I prioritize each moment. This can be anything from “breathe deeply” to “send invites for this weekend’s fundraiser.”

There are lots of things I need to focus on during the day…a lot to get done. The best part of this app is that it doesn’t take away the list maker in me. See that little “Todo” in the bottom right corner? Here’s what happens when I click on it:

All of my to-do’s neatly organized into a little button that I can click and hide anytime I need to disconnect! Don’t worry, yours won’t come up blurred. 😉

This is a quick and easy way to organize the day’s purpose alongside my to-do list, which has the more detailed items.

If you find yourself disoriented and a bit all over the place when you have a lot to do, consider downloading Momentum. It has changed the way I start my day for sure, and I can see myself using this long-term.

It’s simple, but it works!
